Board of Trustee’s Meeting


April 24, 2017

Meeting called to order by President Dani at 6:00 P.M.


The Board recited the Pledge of Allegiance


Secretary Seth read minutes of the last meeting, Motion to accept by Kathy, second by Anne, motion approved.


Treasurer’s report.  Alice distributed the Treasurer’s report and asked for questions.  President Dani asked for a review of bills Diana moved to pay bills, Kathy second, motion carried.  Bills were directed to be paid.


Librarian reports presented by Julie. The Librarian’s report showed a deposit of $1,086.53.  Summer reading donations were improved over last year. The Easter Egg hunt was very successful with over 200 people attending. For National Library Week the Library posted a colorful bulletin board where patrons were invited to tell what they liked about the Library.  There were about 20 comments.


Lego Club has recessed for the spring.


Coming events are at attorney who will discuss wills and estate planning.  Heather Secker will be at the Library May 11th with her sign program.  Each person can design their own sign, color and all.  Summer Reading signup will be June 5 – 10 and a large crowd is expected.  Alice suggested that it might be better to have these large programs later in the season. The Library staff are conducting inventory, which has not been done recently.


Under old business, Alice said that the late opening on Thursday was mandated by the state to provide later hours at least once a week for the benefit of working patrons.  The outside water spigot has been repaired.  There was a discussion of excess mulch on the memorial garden, which should be thinned out.  Dani volunteered to look after weeds.


The new Board assumes office during the May 22 meeting.  The Hite cleaning bill was the same as last time.  Diana will be gone the May 22 meeting.  Discussion was held concerning the need to restrict use of the Library’s phone, especially by younger patrons.  Alice suggested several ways she has found to be helpful.  The Village needs to be reminded to replace the flag when needed.


Motion to adjourn by Kathy, second by Diana, motion carried. Meeting adjourned 6:40 P.M.
