Treasurer’s report:  The Treasurer’s Report was reviewed and discussed.  The areas showing a deficit will be covered with the income from tax money.   Kathy Brownlee made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report as presented.  Dani Noland seconded.  Motion carried.

Secretary Report:  Diana Kupish read minutes of the August 28, 2017 meeting.  Dani Noland made a motion to approve the minutes as read.  Matt Dilbeck seconded.  The motion was approved.

Librarian report:

Ø The Remembrance Book has been updated and is in the display cabinet.

Ø Anne Byard applied Weed ‘n Feed to the lawn and will follow up with grass seed when rain is anticipated.

Ø The Lego Club met on September 16th with 16 children and 5 adults in attendance.

Ø The Memorial Bricks arrived for James T Damery and John W. Robinson and Frances E. Robinson.  Curt Swigert was contacted for their installation.  Dani Noland put a couple plain bricks in the empty spots to avoid injury to those viewing the Walk of Remembrance.

Ø Contact was made with Curt Swigert regarding the removal of some of the mulch from under the benches and to purchase a tree for the Memorial Walk area.

Ø Story Time Begins September 27th.  Julie met with Rebecca Meyer from igrow of Macon County Health Department who will be attending and assisting in five of the Story Time Programs.  Ms. Meyer also brought reading material explaining services offered by the Macon County Health Depart and requested a few minutes at each program to explain some of the services available.  Other community volunteers have been contacted to assist in the rest of the Story Time programs.

Ø Rock Painting Program is scheduled for October 5th at 6:30 in the annex.  The project has been well received in the community and has a following on Facebook.  There was a nice article in the Blue Mound Leader regarding this program and Cindy Ervin will be assisting with the program.

Ø Julie attended three meetings in September: Barcoding II, Free Form Meeting, and the Small Public Library Meeting. She feels she has gained from attending each of these meetings.  Julie also met a number of people from area libraries including Sandy Klein from the Stonington Library.

Ø Julie reminded the board members of the Weiner Roast at her home Sunday, October 8th at 6 p.m.  A sign-up sheet was passed around.

Old Business:

Ø Weed/grass has been handled by Anne Byard.

Ø The James T. Damery Memorial Committee met again to discuss ways to improve the Children’s section of the library.  Ideas that have been agreed upon include an area rug outlined with colorful alphabet and an Activity Cube aimed at school age children (as opposed to the existing cube with a pre-school target age). It was also agreed to purchase books to give to children at the Halloween and Christmas programs.  Each book would have a sticker indicating it is from the James T. Damery Memorial donation to the library.  Other ideas are still in the works and will be discussed at the next board meeting.

Ø Memorial Book is current and on display.

New Business: Ordinance No. 17-3 for the Levy of Taxes for the Current Fiscal Year for the Blue Mound Memorial Public Library District ending June 30, 2018 was distributed with the explanation that the previous Ordinance No 17-2 for the Budget and Appropriations was an approximate proposal.  This Ordinance No. 17-3 for the Tax Levy is a more accurate representation of expected expenditures.  There was a brief review and discussion followed by a motion to accept Ordinance No. 17-3 by Kathy Brownlee.  Dani Noland seconded.  A Roll Call Vote was taken with unanimous approval.  The motion carried.

Other: Alice Reed received the Audit to Comptrollers Report.  The language was technical and confusing so she will consult with the library’s CPA and Attorney to ensure the library is following the regulations correctly.

Personnel:  Nothing to discuss.

Motion to adjourn:  Kathy Brownlee moved to adjourn the meeting; Matt Dilbeck seconded; motion carried.  Meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m.

Diana Kupish, Secretary
