January 2022 Board Minutes

Monday, January 24, 2022 at 6:00 p.m., the Blue Mound Memorial Library Board of Trustees met in accordance with Health Department guidelines, in the annex of the Library with not more than two board members seated at opposite ends of 8’ tables, spaced several feet apart.  The Blue Mound Memorial Library Vice-President, Nancy Gorden, called to order the Board of Trustees meeting for January, 2022.

 

The Board recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Secretary’s Report:  Vice-President, Nancy Gorden verified that each Board member received and reviewed the November 22, 2021 Minutes that had been emailed.  There were no questions. Julie Chapman made a motion to accept the Minutes as presented.  Amy Brown seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all “Aye” votes.

Treasurer’s Report:  The Treasurer’s Report was presented in writing.  There were no questions.  Amy Brown made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented.  Sharon Reynolds seconded the motion.  The motions carried with all “Aye” votes.

Librarian’s Report: 

  • Girl Scouts are using the Annex every first and third Mondays of each month at 6:00 p.m..
  • Ellie Fitzpatrick has completed her library clerk training and is now working on her own.
  • The copy machine was looked at by Watts on December 20th. It needed a good cleaning and some maintenance. 
  • Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program generated a lot of excitement.
  • Bookworm will be the entire month of February.
  • Julie will be visiting the school on Monday, January 31st at 10:30 to encourage the children to use our facilities for books.  

 

Library Activities:

  • Book Club met on Thursday, December 16th, at the West Side Grill in Mt. Zion with 12 people in attendance.  They discussed “The Christmas Shoes” by Donna Van Liere led by Amber Height. 
  • Book Club also met on January 20th at the library at 6:30 hosted by Paula Farmer discussing the book “Saving Meghan” by D. J. Palme.
  • Santa & Mrs. Claus were at the Library on Saturday, December 4th. Although attendance was low with only 40 children, the program was appreciated by all.

 

 

 

 

Upcoming Programs:

  • Book Club will meet again on February 17th to discuss the book “In an Instant” by Susan Redfern and hosted by Kia Thomas. Lindsey cannot make it on time due to a conflict with her work schedule.      
  • Story Time will resume again on Wednesday, February 9th.
  • Lego Club will meet again on Saturday, February 19th.

 

Old Business: 

  • Per Capita Grant Report is finished
  • Flag Pole is at Trimble’s Construction and will be installed when the weather permits.

 

New Business:

All staff and Board members will complete the training.  Certificates are to be returned to the Library.

Motion to Adjourn:  With no further business to discuss, Amy Brown made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Sharon Reynolds seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all “Aye” votes.  The meeting adjourned at 6:39 p.m.

 

The Next Regular Board Meeting will be Monday, February 28, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.
